On 24 September 2026, Xeon & Partners Law Firm delivered a specialised training session for one of its long-standing corporate clients on recent developments in the European Union’s green regulatory framework and their implications for businesses exporting products to the EU.
The training focused particularly on cross-border packaging compliance, an area that has become increasingly important following the introduction of the EU’s new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), Regulation (EU) 2025/40.
The PPWR introduces a substantially more comprehensive regulatory framework for packaging placed on the EU market. Its requirements cover areas including restricted substances, packaging minimisation, recyclability, recycled content, labelling and other sustainability-related obligations. For Chinese manufacturers and exporters, these rules may affect not only finished products but also packaging design, material selection, supplier documentation and compliance declarations requested by European customers.
During the session, Xeon & Partners discussed the practical compliance issues that Chinese companies may encounter when responding to requirements imposed by EU customers and supply-chain partners. Particular attention was given to the importance of reviewing contractual and compliance declarations carefully, maintaining appropriate supporting documentation and ensuring that statements made to overseas customers are supported by reliable compliance evidence.
As environmental and sustainability regulation becomes an increasingly important part of market access in Europe, companies exporting to the EU need to incorporate regulatory developments into product design, supply-chain management and commercial contracting at an earlier stage.
Xeon & Partners continues to provide legal and compliance support to companies engaged in international business, including regulatory monitoring, international trade and supply-chain compliance, contract review and cross-border risk management.
